Reason To Be Cheerful - Part 3

The Warriors can prepare to face Partick Thistle in the CIS cup tomorrow night (Tuesday) with some optimism.  Des Mckeown’s team go into the game on the back of two thumping 6-0 wins against Cowdenbeath and East Stirlingshire respectively.

Although The Shire went into Saturday’s derby match with their fair share of injury worries, the Firs Park side were no match for The Warriors goal-hungry forwards.

The team received another boost with the news that it has beaten off competition from several other clubs and signed John Paul McBride on a one-year contract.

McBride has been playing for a month with Stenny and secretary David Reid said: 'He has been outstanding. A number of other clubs, including a couple of full-time ones, were interested.'

If McBride continues to strike his free-kicks as sweetly as the one that gave him his goal on Saturday, this may well prove to be a very astute piece of business by the club.

McBride - who lists The Jags as one of his former clubs - will be looking forward to renewing some old acquaintances when the clubs meet on Tuesday night.  Des McKeown too will be keen to get one over on Gerry Britton and Derek Whyte who were his team mates during his time at Firhill.
