Five-star Airdrie hammer Stenny

Ryan Donnelly scored twice as Airdrie thrashed Stenhousemuir 5-2.

Striker Donnelly broke the deadlock after 10 minutes, firing home from the edge of the box before a stunning strike from Paul Lovering after 27 minutes doubled their lead.

The game looked to be over when John Boyle headed home in first-half stoppage time to give Airdrie a 3-0 lead.

But Stenhousemuir were revitalised following the restart and the comeback looked on when Colin Hamilton headed in after 51 minutes and Stewart Kean drilled home five minutes later.

Donnelly restored Airdrie's two-goal cushion after 66 minutes and Nathan Blockley sealed the win with seven minutes left.

United had defender David Lilley sent off late on for a professional foul on Andy Rodgers but the points were already in the bag by then.
