Stenhousemuir ran riot at Central Park as Cowdenbeath slumped to a second successive league defeat.

The visitors went ahead after 19 minutes from the penalty spot, Paul McGrillen cooly slotting home after Darren McGregor fouled Ryan Davidson.

Two minutes later it was two as McGrillen sidefooted Davidson's shot in off the bar.

By this time Stenhousemuir already had the game won but McGrillen added insult to injury on the half hour, knocking the ball over Stephan Grollasch from six yards and after 33 minutes it was four-nil when John-Paul McBride lashed one in to the top right hand corner.

Any thoughts of a dramatic comeback were effectively ended when Innes Ritchie was sent off after a melee in the middle of the park.

It was Lee Collins who got the fifth after 67 minutes, drilling a low shot from 18 yards past the goalkeeper's outstretched left hand.

It was Davidson who compounded a miserable day for Cowdenbeath after 82 mins - heading home at the back post from a Tommy Sinclair corner.

All in all, it was a tremendously encouraging display from Stenhousemuir, but it looks as if it's going to be a long hard season for the Bankies.
