Stenny dominated and should have taken all the points, but in the end had to thank their keeper for getting a draw.

The Warriors wasted some great chances, but would have lost but for William McCulloch's crucial save with just three minutes left from Stephen Tarditi 's header. Injury and suspension robbed East Fife of six players, but they started brightly and James Herkes should have done better than drive into the side netting when his team mates were sceaming for a cut -back.

Stenhousemuir were out of luck in the 14th minute when Martin Lauchlan's deflected cross looped into the air and Joseph Savage volleyed over.

Lauchlan then produced a piece of magic when he spotted John Dodds straying off his line, but unfortunately for the winger his 40- yard lob dropped on to the top of the net.

Herkes almost made up for his earlier selfish play when he hammered a volley just wide with McCulloch helpless. John-Paul McBride showed some great touches and almost scored in the 46th minute after some terrible East Fife defending, but his effort whistled over the bar.

East Fife somehow escaped in the 55th minute when Savage powered in a header, but with John Dodds beaten the ball struck a defender.

Savage then missed a sitter in the 64th minute when a deflection left him clear, but his half- hit shot was tipped on to the bar by Dodds and the chance was lost.
