Thomson thwarts Forfar comeback

Substitute Iain Thomson's goal gave Stenhousemuir a 3-2 victory at Forfar after the hosts had initially fought back from two down.

The Warriors should have gone ahead after nine minutes through Stewart Kean but his left-footed volley struck the post.

They did lead 13 minutes later when Brown Ferguson nodded in Paul McHale's cross and they doubled their advantage three minutes later when Kean prodded home from close range.

The hosts battled back and Christopher Templeman headed Iain Campbell's cross into the net from six yards in the 55th minute to give them hope. They were back on level terms just two minutes later when David Mowat's rasping drive beat Chris McCluskey from the edge of the box.

But Thomson ensured Stenhousemuir had the last laugh, converting Kean's cross in the 62nd minute.
