Stenhousemuir dropped two points in this fixture and saw their lead at the top of the league reduced to seven points.

But they were lucky to get a share of the spoils as Robbie Henderson had to clear off the line from Jon Voigt in the dying seconds of the game.

If Voigt's effort had gone in the Red Lichties would have stolen the points as they had endured a Warriors' onslaught in the last 20 minutes of the game with only the brilliance of Mark Peat in the Arbroath goal keeping the score level.

The excitement of the last quarter of the game was in contrast to a turgid first half that only saw either keeper tested once, when Willie McCulloch had to save at the base of the post from Marc McCulloch.

The only talking point of the first period was the performance of referee Mike Tumilty, who eventually booked no fewer than seven players in the game of which probably only the booking of Stenhousemuir's Stevie Fallon was merited, while he failed to spot worse fouls.

With players wary of the referee throughout the game and the stop start nature of the game there was little flowing football.

The best opportunity for Stenhousemuir came from a kick out by McCulloch to Colin Cramb, who fed substitute Iain Diack and his rasping drive was tipped over by Peat.

From the resulting corner a scramble ensued and Greg Denham's header beat Peat, but was headed off the line by Robbie Raeside.

Peat was otherwise unbeatable apart from an effort from Jim Mercer that eluded him, but Mercer's strike was adjudged to be offside and at the other end of the park Arbroath also had a goal disallowed for offside after Voigt beat McCulloch.
