Berwick Rangers take a slender 1-0 lead into the second leg of the second division play-offs and they have ex-Warrior Gareth Hutchison to thank for their lead.

He scored the goal with 15 minutes left when he reacted quickly after a Kevin McLeish free-kick was only parried by keeper Chris Fahey.

For most of the game it had looked as if it would end as a 0-0 draw but Berwick came close to scoring twice in the first half through Stephen Manson who hit the woodwork in the third minute with a long-range shot that was tipped onto the bar, and then in the 19th minute he rattled a shot off the base of the post.

Stenhousemuir, despite their home advantage, struggled to make anything worthwhile though they came close in the 41st minute when a Joe McAlpine free-kick from 25 yards was punched out by Gary O'Connor.
