Stenhousemuir 1-1 Forfar- Match Report

Stenny held at Forfar

Stenhousemuir slipped down to fourth in Scottish League One after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Forfar.

Both teams had good opportunities to take the lead in the opening exchanges. First Gavin Swankie came close for Forfar with a curling right-footed strike that just drifted past Chris Smith's right-hand post. Then Darren Smith had a chance at the other end with five minutes on the clock, but his right-footed drive was blocked by Darren Dods.

It was the home side that managed to break the deadlock after 10 minutes. John Gemmell fired a low, well-hit volley that nestled into the bottom-right corner of the net, leaving Darren Hill with no chance of stopping it.

Forfar grabbed an equaliser 10 minutes before half-time through Dale Hilson's curling right-footed strike.

And it was the visitors who looked most likely to win the game in the second half. Swankie, Edward Malone and Hilson all had chances to put the Loons ahead but failed to convert.
