This was an action-packed game from start to finish with the lowly 1-1 scoreline being down to superb performances by the respective custodians.

The Warriors came closest to scoring on the half-hour mark when Paul McGrillen crashed a high bouncing ball off the crossbar from 25 yards.

The home side eventually made the breakthrough in the 44th minute with a well-constructed goal.

A probing diagonal ball by Keith Knox was picked up by Ryan Davidson and his cross was headed down by Joe Savage to McGrillen who skipped past a couple of players before laying the ball off to Lee Collins who drilled the ball home from 12 yards.

The second half started with Stenhousemuir trying to push home their advantage but Davidson and John-Paul McBride were denied by David Crawford in the Queen's goal.

They lived to regret those misses when Brian Felvus latched on to an Ally Graham pass and rounded William McCulloch before scoring from a tight angle.

The Spiders were then to be denied when McCulloch brilliantly tipped over a Brian Blair shot and from the resultant corner Shaun Molloy's shot was cleared off the line by David McNally.

With time running out Stenhousemuir were denied a stonewall penalty when McBride was brought down in the box.

Then in injury time Queens almost took all three points when Alan Trouten's attempt was stopped one-handed by McCulloch.

Still, the youngsters from Hampden were able to celebrate a well-earned point with a bottle of their sponsor's special ginger pop.
