Queens Park kept their play-off hopes alive thanks to a Stevie Canning double at Ochilview.

The victory that was secured in the 90th minute of the game was no less than the Spiders deserved as they were on top throughout the game as Stenhousemuir's season continued to disintegrate.

Canning had came closest to opening the scoring during an uneventful first period but saw an effort cleared off the line by Stevie Fallon in the 31st minute.

Queens Park came close to opening the scoring just after the resumption when a David Weatherston strike rattled the underside of the bar and Canning reacted quickest, but Fallon cleared once again off the line.

Iain Diack should have opened the scoring for the hosts in the 64th minute but shot wildly past the post with only the keeper to beat.

Eventually Canning scored the goal that his endeavours deserved when he swivelled just inside the box and struck a shot into the roof of the net in the 72nd minute.

Stenhousemuir almost equalised immediately when David Templeton had an effort cleared off the line by Weatherston after Paul McGrillen had put Queens keeper Mark Cairns under pressure.

In the 80th minute the Warriors were handed a lifeline when Ross Clark headed into his own net, but they were unable to take advantage and were caught on a counter attack in stoppage time when Canning dispatched the ball into the net after a mazy run had left the home defence floundering.
