Ferguson at the helm

Stenhousemuir will have reserve-team coach and player Brown Ferguson in charge against visitors Ayr following the unexpected dismissal of Martyn Corrigan earlier in the week.

Despite now being free of suspension, John Gemmell will not feature against the Honest Men due to a calf problem.

Ferguson is also denied the services of Kevin McKinlay and Ross McMillan because of bans.

Ferguson said: "It has been a challenging week but the players worked incredibly hard in training this week. Ayr are in a play-off place but if we can win this game we will be well-placed to put in a run towards securing one as well."

Ayr miss Martyn Campbell, who has a hamstring injury, for a game that player-manager Mark Roberts describes as a massive one for his opponents.

Kyle McAusland has returned to Rangers at the end of his loan deal, however former Scotland player Kevin Kyle has signed an extension to his contract to keep him at Somerset Park until the end of the season.

Roberts said: "We are occupying a play-off place just now and a win puts us 10 points clear of Stenhousemuir.

"They will see this game as a massive must-win to avoid that happening but we will be just as determined to keep them at arm's length.
